Site Information |
VeriSign WebSite Security
When CCCorp decided to offer the "Active WebSite" product, we wanted to make
sure the site was secure for our users and their members. VeriSign is the recognized
leader in Internet security, so we decided to purchase their programs.
If you double click on the "secure lock" you can see more information about the Secure
Site Certificate.
PIN Security
Every member is responsible for protecting the secrecy of their PIN.
You should never give this number to unauthorized persons.
Security Alert
Netscape Communicator version 4.05 or earlier includes a root CA
certificate set to expire at the end of 1999. Users of these browsers will experience an
additional dialog box when connecting securely with your site after January 1, 2000. (Root
CA certificate expiration does not affect SSL encryption.) We encourage you to update your
browser versions by December 31, 1999.
We strongly encourage you to use the following tools:
The Browser Security Update Tool opens a new browser window and automatically
checks the security status of your visitors' browsers, offering upgrade and update
instructions. The Tool walks browser users through the process of either updating the
browser security feature only in approximately one minute (this installs a new root CA
certificate in the user's browser, ensuring secure Web site connections), or to download
the newest version of Netscape's browser.
Go to http://www.verisign.com/server/cus/rootcert/webmaster.html to download the Browser Security Update tool. The downloadable file includes
instructions for installing and running the Tool on your site.
Update instructions on Security Center at Netscape Netcenter help users
update or upgrade their browsers. Go to http://verisign.netscape.com/security/rootcert
to see the Security Center Update Instructions.

| About Encryption |
Encryption is a technical term for scrambling meaningful text and numbers at one
location and transmitting them across the Internet to another location. The
encryption process uses complex algorithmic formulas to create a key that is used to
translate the information back into useable content. There are billions of potential
keys and a different key is used for each Active WebSite session.
All confidential information sent to and requested by this site is encrypted. The
credit union submits the account information using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encrypted
network transmissions. The encryption we currently use is 40-bit encryption.
This is extremely secure and the most compatible encryption for world wide use. It
has been estimated that this level of encryption would take a 64-MIPS computer a year of
dedicated processor time to break.
